Description

This webinar covers the latest updates for Form 1099-MISC and Form 1099-NEC, including OBBBA changes to reporting limits, qualified tips, and qualified overtime. Furthermore, we will explain specific reporting rules for different payment types and payees, along with key filing methods and tax withholding rules.

Additionally, the session covers filing due dates and penalties for late returns. You will also learn practical steps to avoid penalties, including how to request penalty waivers for reasonable cause.

Why Attend

The IRS is adding staff and upgrading technology to catch mistakes and close the tax gap. As a result, penalties for missing rules go up every year. Therefore, you must fill out 1099 forms correctly, file them on time, and follow basic review steps to protect your business.

To stay compliant, businesses must know which form to use for each payment and when to send them. Moreover, you need to verify what information to list, how to fix errors, and when to hold back taxes for a payee. Finally, following these standard review steps protects your business from penalties even if a form has an error.

Additionally, IRS rules require online filing if you submit 10 or more forms of any type. Since the IRS is replacing the older FIRE system after 2026, this session gives you the latest updates to help you prepare for 2026 and beyond.
